Beyond the Mat

  • Grateful Yoga 15 State St, 3rd Floor Montpelier VT (map)

In this discussion based class we will be exploring topics surrounding the yoga community and practice. This will include everything from the yoga sutras to practicing ethically. We’ll look at the connections of yoga to colonization, issues within the yoga community, the evolution of the practice from its roots, what being a yogi off the mat looks like, and more. The topics, resources, and discussions will be tailored to the interests of the group. These resources will vary from articles, podcasts, and short documentaries to try to be inclusive of all types of learners. All resources you will be asked to use will be available for free online. We’ll look at one resource each week and bring our thoughts to the group on Monday evening for discussion. Similar to a book club.
